EAST LINTON BOWLING CLUB East Linton Bowling Club runs coaching sessions every saturday morning from 10am till 12. It's free and everyone is welcome to come along and try the sport. Equipment will be made available for you. If you cannot attend but would like to come and try bowling then please do not hesitate to contact the bowling club and we will try and arrange something suitable for you. Youth members should be fully integrated into the Club. Through a combination of school based coaching schemes and equipment provision, youth membership has flourished. Integration of youths into most Club competitions has helped to retain them. Youth members are defined as those members under the age of 16 years at the 1st of April in each year. Schoolchildren and Youth members are encouraged to attend regular coaching sessions run each Saturday morning and are coached to an acceptable playing standard before being allowed to play in Club competitions, etc. Youths Pay For Membership (£15). Key Levy for Locker Use (50p). Entry Fees for ‘Sunday Game’ competitions. Youths DO NOT Pay for Any expenses playing for the Youth League and other representative matches. Youths are allowed Locker Keys. Youths are allowed to use Club Bowls and other equipment for coaching sessions, team matches, Club competitions and practising. Coaches have priority on rinks at the Green Rangers discretion- usually the whole green pending on competitions. All Coaches have been subject to a Disclosure Scotland ‘check’. Youths must have an adult member or a Coach present when playing- who will assume responsibility for them- until the Coach deems the Youth to be playing at an acceptable level. General Dress. This is the same as adult members, smart casual which can include jeans. Youths are allowed to wear any flat-soled shoes for coaching. For team matches, they must wear proper bowling shoes, white tops with a collar or club logo with black or grey trousers/ skirt. These are all essential parts of the game for all players and youth members must comply. Driving. In general, this is not considered good play, can also be dangerous and is therefore strongly discouraged. This particularly applies to friendly games. Only when absolutely necessary and solely on the advice and approval of the Skip, a weighted shot rather than a drive must be advised to players at the head before it is played. Personal Conduct and Sportsmanship. The guidance given on page 5 of the SBA booklet Bowls for Beginners, which all Youth members have been issued with, is essential to being a good bowler. These Rules and Principles are taught to all Youths during their coaching sessions and must be observed at all times. Coaches, Club Officials and members alike will constantly ensure that these standards are maintained. East Linton Bowling Club looks not only to our trained coaches, but also to ALL the Adult Members of the Club to help our Youths develop into mature individuals playing the wonderful game of Bowls properly and enjoying it. We look forward to our Youth members as being the very backbone in the successful long-term future of the Club. There is also no doubt that by teaching them, at an early age, the discipline of playing the sport properly and encouraging them at all times, we will help them develop social skills with both their peers and seniors that will last them a lifetime. Thanks to ALL members in anticipation of your continued help. Calum Blair Youth Convenor/ Club Coach Amy Newlands Club Coach YOUTH MEMBER POLICIES
