The Wee Green

The Wee Green was originally part of the main green at East Linton Bowling Club in the early days it was known as rinks 1 & 2 . When what was to become the big green was sectioned off the two rink wee green was formed.

Altough thought of by many members as an inferior playing surface to the larger main green, this wee gem of a green holds its own singles competition ( The White Trophy) and for many bowlers was where they first played and learned the game through playing on it night after night from as early as 5 / 6 year old up into the youth ranks before progressing into junior and full members.

Much topic has been raised on the Wee Green with the likes of in the early 1980's an idea was proposed off building a new clubhouse on it and having an indoor two rinks upstairs, which would have been a first at the time as the local Meadowmill Indoor Bowling Club had not yet been built, this idea however was rejected.

One other idea was thought of to make the Wee Green into an all weather surface .

Although not played on as much as the Main Green the Wee Green is still well maintained and perhaps just needs played on a little more to find the old true runs of the rinks. Thus new members wishing to learn or the younger youth members are encouraged to use it when available.
